Step 5: Submit an Application for Admission (AfA)

This is an online application that must include sufficient information for faculty and departmental staff members to assess you as a potential doctoral candidate.

You can submit an Application for Admission at any time of the year.

Doctoral Application Process Six Steps

You will need the following documents in digital format:  

  • Transcripts for your highest tertiary qualification. Please include the grading scale from your previous tertiary institution. This is often found on the back of the transcript.
  • Statement of Research Intent
  • Two Doctoral Referee Reports
  • If English is not your first language: we require your IELTS, TOEFL and TWE test scores (if you haven't taken these tests in the previous 2 years, we will need you to take the test again). 
  • Your CV or resumé.

The Application for Admission (AfA) is an online process, so you will need to log in.

  • If you are a student or staff member at the University: use your username and password.
  • If you are new to The University of Auckland: sign up for a new account (you can do this on the login page).
