Dr Rick Henry
Rick joined the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in 2010 and is responsible for teaching concrete materials and design courses. He is currently leading research projects into the seismic performance of reinforced concrete walls following the Canterbury earthquakes, connections in precast concrete floors and self-centering precast concrete wall systems.
Rick received his BE (Civil) and PhD from the University of Auckland, the latter focusing on the application of self-centering precast concrete walls for regions of low to high seismicity. During his PhD studies Rick was fortunate to participate in large-scale testing at the National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering (NCREE) in Taiwan, in addition to spending over a year on exchange to Iowa State University supported by a Fulbright award.
