World Ranking and Employer Reputation


The Faculty of Engineering is proud to be a part of New Zealand's top university as well as being the leading Engineering faculty in New Zealand. Employers value our graduates highly across all our specialisations.

2016 RANKINGS 

The Faculty of Engineering has consolidated its position as New Zealand's top Engineering Faculty with the release of the 2016 QS World University Rankings. The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Auckland was ranked 1 in New Zealand across all 5 Engineering disciplines. 

 

Top of the Class

The University of Auckland has risen to 82 (from its 2014 position of 92) in the 2015 QS World University Rankings. This solidifies our place as New Zealand's highest-ranked university, and puts us in a class of our own. This ranking is based on relevant critera that include: academic reputation, faculty citations, faculty-to-student ratio, international student numbers, and employer reputation. We are additionally rated as a QS Five Stars Plus institution.

What is employer reputation?

Employer Reputation is a critical component of employability. The majority of university graduates searching for employment are considered on the basis of their industry experience, skills and the educational institution where they studied.

This is why the University of Auckland is so proud to be counted amongst the world’s finest universities for both undergraduate and postgraduate Engineering programmes.

According to the prestigious and respected QS World Ranking®, the University of Auckland’s Faculty of Engineering is in exceptional company. In 2015, our faculty made it to 19th in the world for the employer reputation component of the ranking.

 

About the QS World Ranking Employer Reputation survey

The QS Employer Reputation survey is one component of an overall QS World University Ranking®. This makes up 10% of the overall rankings score.

The employer reputation part of the survey was calculated using the following:

  • An extensive database of employers in key markets all over the world, accumulated over the 20 years.
  • Partner organisations such as media agencies and job portals.
  • Lists of employers supplied by universities, with submissions screened to limit the risk of bias.
  • A database of previous respondents to the survey.
