Students’ robotics featured on CBS

15 June 2017

The Auckland University Robotics Association (AURA) added another milestone to their successful year – being featured in a CBS highlights reel for the VEX Robotics World Championship.

AURA, one of the Faculty of Engineering’s student clubs, are active participants in VEX robotics events throughout the country and beyond. Six members travelled to Louisville, Kentucky in April to compete in the university division of the VEX Robotics World Championship, making it the club’s fourth appearance in the global competition.

They were notably named the champions of the VEX-U tournament, a testament to their programming, designing, and driving skills. AURA also received a Community Award for their volunteer work and commitment in mentoring and running competitions for high school students. Outreach and mentoring is a part of the group’s mission statement, and they hope to keep this up with their Vodafone-supported Mini Robot Rumble competition next month.
